Part-time Unity Technical Lead

A technical lead for your project.
I plan and write the code.

I help owners and small teams plan and develop Unity games and apps. I decide how the software should be organized, help choose what to work on next, review code and make agreed changes myself. You get ongoing technical help with responsibilities and time agreed in advance.

When this fits

Give the technical decisions a clear owner.

01

Decisions are accumulating

You need consistent technical ownership, but a full-time technical lead is not the right step for the product.

02

Priorities are competing

Features, technical debt, performance and release work need a clear order connected to your product goals.

03

Direction needs implementation

You want someone who can assess a trade-off, explain it and work through the relevant code—not stop at recommendations.

What you receive

The work and results we agree on.

A clear technical direction

Architecture decisions, constraints, risks and trade-offs connected to your product goals.

Priorities you can act on

An ordered list of work, divided into agreed stages. Each stage states what will be done, what it depends on and how we will check the result.

Engineering & targeted review

Implementation of agreed work, focused code review and help resolving difficult technical problems.

Visible progress & decisions

Concise updates, recorded decisions and enough context to maintain the product beyond the engagement.

Technical ownership is defined for agreed areas and milestones. People management, hiring, company-wide CTO duties, infrastructure operations and urgent support are outside the default scope. We agree involvement and communication cadence before starting.

How we work together

Plan, develop and review together.

  1. 01

    Establish context

Review the current version, source code, goals and limits on time or resources. Agree which decisions and tasks I should take responsibility for.

  2. 02

    Agree the next stage

Choose the highest-priority work and define scope, acceptance criteria and the decisions that need your input.

  3. 03

    Implement & review

Work on the agreed scope, surface risks and discuss decisions that affect cost, direction or other contributors.

  4. 04

    Demonstrate & adjust

Review the work together at an agreed time, update priorities and choose what to do next.

Relevant development experience

Experience behind the offer.

The relevant experience is technical ownership close to the code. I do the engineering personally; I am not presenting these projects as team-management engagements.

Before we start

Clear expectations.

01How is this different from a technical audit?

An audit is a focused assessment with findings and recommendations. Fractional technical leadership adds continuing involvement: I help prioritize work, implement agreed changes and revisit decisions as the product evolves.

02How is this different from product development?

Product development centers on building an agreed feature set or release. This service adds ongoing technical direction across milestones. It can include substantial implementation, with scope agreed for each stage.

03Do I need an existing development team?

No. I can work directly with a product owner or alongside a small team. We agree which technical responsibilities I own and how decisions, implementation and review are shared. This does not assume people-management responsibilities.

Discuss ongoing technical leadership

Where do you need development help?

Tell me about the game or app, what is holding it up and what you want to achieve next. We can agree how I can help and how much involvement you need.

Have a limited budget? Tell me your priority and the range you’re comfortable with. I’ll be clear about a realistic first step.
